Concertmaster Angela Garwood

A native of New Brunswick, Miss Garwood grew up studying the Violin in the District 8 String Program. After only a few years of study, she became a member of the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra, the New Brunswick Symphony's Apprenticeship Program and led the District 8 Senior Orchestra as Concertmaster.

She continued her studies under the direction of Dr. Nancy Dahn of the world renowned Duo Concertante, at Memorial University of Newfoundland's School of Music. During that time, she was a first Violinist with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, the NSO Sinfonia as well as being Concertmaster of the Newfoundland Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Before coming to Timmins, Miss Garwood taught with the UNB Conservatory of Music and performed with the Atlantic Sinfonia and the New Brunswick Symphony. She was also a regular member of two amateur ensembles, the Fredericton Chamber Orchestra and the York Early Music Ensemble.

Miss Garwood joins the Timmins Symphony as Concertmaster for the 2008-2009 as Concertmaster and faculty for the Geoffrey James Lee School of Music. Since arriving she commenced the Junior Orchestra, plays Oboe with the Youth Orchestra and performs alongside colleagues Matthew Jones and Ariane Alexander in the faculty trio.
