MAIN SERIES
OCTOBER 25th, 2008 at 8pm at École secondaire Catholique Thériault - TSO Main Series begins as guest soloist violinist Megan Jones performs Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto with the Timmins Symphony.
NOVEMBER 29th, 2008 at 8pm at École secondaire Catholique Thériault - Internationally acclaimed Pianist Teresa Walters joins the Timmins Sympony as a guest soloist, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.5.
FEBRUARY 14th, 2009 at 8pm at École secondaire Catholique Thériault - Bring Your Valentine for an evening at the Symphony, as guest soloists Harpist Sharlene Wallace and Flautist Sharon Kahan perform with the Timmins Symphony.
MAY 9th, 2009 at 8pm at École secondaire Catholique Thériault - The North Does Brahms! Be part of history as the Timmins Symphony Orchestra hosts the North Bay Symphony Orchestra for a joint concert featuring Brahm's Symphony No.2. Guest soloist pianist Yoko Hirota will perform “Oiseau de givre” by Northern Ontario composer Robert Lemay.
TSO - GIRONES LAWYERS CHILDREN'S CONCERT SERIES
NOVEMBER 16th, 2008 at 2pm at École secondaire Catholique Thériault - The infamous Janitor Jones returns to town to guest conduct for the Girones Lawyers Children's Concert Series.
FEBRUARY 1st, 2009 at 2pm at École secondaire Catholique Thériault - Join us for the second concert in a series. A not to be missed afternoon filled with music that will entertain and educate your children.
CHAMBER SERIES
JANUARY 24th, 2009 at 7:30pm at the Shania Twain Centre - Join us for the return of the Timmins Symphony Chamber group. Concertmaster Angela Garwood, Principal Vioist Ariane Alexander and Music Director Matthew Jones will be performing the Beethoven, Mozart and Schubert Trios.
SPECIAL EVENTS & FUNDRAISING CONCERTS
SEPTEMBER 11th, 2008 at 8pm at École secondaire Catholique Thériault - Join us for an evening of Symphonic Excellence as the Toronto Symphony returns to Timmins with internationally acclaimed Conductor Alain Trudel and guest soloist Flautist Nora Shulman.
OCTOBER 15th, 2008 at 7pm at Christopher's Coffee House - Media Launch of the TSO goes Rock n' Roll Fundraising Calendar. Purchase your copy of the calendar hot off the press and enjoy some great music among friends.
DECEMBER 13th at 8pm at St. Anthony's Cathedral - The Timmins Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will be performing Handel's Messiah. Soloists: Aileen Kleinhuis, Alison Kirkpatrick, Chris Rodgers & Peter Colbert. Admission to this event is by donation. General seating.
APRIL 25th at 7:30pm at the Capitol Centre in North Bay - A tale of two Symphonies – The North Bay Symphony and the Timmins Symphony together! For ticket information please contact the North Bay Symphony for this concert: Phone 705-494-7744 or email info@NorthBaySymphony.org (Please note that this performance is not part of the TSO Main Series or Season’s Ticket sales packages). Matthew Jones and Thomas Jones will team up again, this time to perform Brahms Symphony No.2 and Dvorak Slavonic dances, with talent from two great Northern Orchestras. To intensify our Northern feel, we have "Oiseau de givre" by Northern Ontario composer Robert Lemay. Sudbury pianist Yoko Hirota will be our soloist to perform this fascinating contemporary piece.
MAY 28th at 8pm at Timmins High & Vocational School - World famous Grammy Award winning violinist James Ehnes performs a Mozart Violin Concerto and Shostakovitch Piano Concerto #2. This is a fundraising concert in support of the Timmins Symphony Orchestra. The Timmins Symphony Chorus will also perform at this concert. General seating.
MUSIC SCHOOL EVENTS
March 28th, 2009 ~ Timmins Symphony Orchestra / Geoffrey James Lee School of Music Scholarship Competition. For more information about the Scholarship Competition, please contact the TSO Office
May 22nd, 2009 ~ Timmins Symphony Youth Orchestra Concert. The TSO Youth Band, and various youth string quartets will also perform. Admission by donation at the door. First United Church at 7:30 pm.
August 17th - 22nd, 2009 ~ Geoffrey James Lee School of Music Summer Camp at Camp Bickell. Youngsters from across Nothern Ontario come to study under the direction of the TSO's finest music instructors (String, Woodwind, Brass & Vocal). Camp culminates with an outstanding concert on the final day, showcasing the students abilities for friends, family members and the community.
